Japanese electronic component maker Taiyo Yuden starts constructing its production base in Changzhou, eastern China's Jiangsu province

Taiyo Yuden, a leading Japanese electronic company, started the construction of the first phase of its production base in Changzhou of eastern China’s Jiangsu Province recently.

The new factory, located in Changzhou’s Wujin High-tech Industrial Development Zone, has a designed annual production capacity of 21.2 billion multilayer ceramic capacitors.

The company’s website shows that the new factory covers about 80,000 square meters with a planned 17 billion yen ($148.5 million) for the building construction. It is expected to start operation in 2023.  

The company said the new factory would be environmentally friendly by introducing rooftop solar power systems to improve equipment efficiency. This move will help achieve the goal of energy-saving and emission reduction.

Founded in 1950, Taiyo Yuden's main products include capacitors, inductors, filters, composite equipment, and communication materials. The company’s major customers include Denso, Omron, Sony, ROHM, Huawei, Apple, and Xiaomi.
